Pedlars Certificate

I've decided to give peddling a go. I applied for my certificate this week, so hopefully in two weeks I shall be carrying my basket of goodies around the streets of Bristol.
I found this link to be really useful, www.pedlars.info/faq-pedlars.html

Like a lot of busy mum's I've had to come up with (hopefully) the best solution to school hours and my need to earn some money. As much as I would love to have a market pitch (Corn street, excellent market in Bristol), I cannot fit around their hours.

I must admit I am a little nervous, been trying out ways to show off my work whilst trying to keeping fairly eco-friendly. I've been cutting up boxes to back my creations and wrapping so as to protect them.

If Bristol works I might get some courage to try Bath!

Hoping to feel the love.

Mixed Media Hare

Not quite sure where I'm heading with this picture. I do know this though, it is just the beginning!

So far, watercolour paper with watercolour paint, recycled fabric stitched on and a layer of gesso.....

Upcycled owls.

Recently I have been taking inspiration from my local animal rescue centre, Secret World. They have a collection of rescued owls that I felt the need to include in my artwork. These two paintings I have here to show on my blog are of a beautiful Barn owl.

These paintings were created on canvas. The background has been made up from upcycled fabric, collaged paper and flower motifs from my daughters outgrown clothes.

I then painted a layer of gesso over this background. This was followed by a layer of brown acrylic paint.

Crackle glaze, applied to add interest to the texture ( I love this stuff!)

And finally, the owl was painted in oil paints, and the sky and stars. Oh, and a little crayon to the flowers.

I am working on some paintings with Twinkle in.

Sadly Twinkle died this week, aged 16.

Not quite sure what to do!

I have made this hare wallhanging from scraps of fabric, recycled card and the beautiful sea-glass my daughter collected for me. The background has been painted with oil paints.

My problem, I can't get it to hang flat to the wall. I hand stitched black velvet to the back and I really don't want to undo it. I worried I might damage it and I love it so.

I welcome any suggestions.

A beautiful gift

My lovely (soon to be 4yrs) daughter gave me this delightful collection of sea-glass. She collected it from Clevedon beach with her dad for me to put in my pictures.
Appearing soon on etsy.

Sir John Tenniel

I'm feeling a bit of an Alice in Wonderland moment coming on. I love painting hares and think I might introduce some rabbits too.

Recycled wallhangings

I've just started on a series of wallhangings. I have a few ideas, this hare is the third I have made. I think I've fine tuned it now, so it works as I had imagined it.
Made from recycled fabric from a pair of jeans and a flower top my daughter had outgrown. Some scrap silk I had dyed, some beads, crystals and bells. The heart and wings also has been made from recycled fabric.
Leaping above the stars.

Still here working!

Lot's of ideas on their way, just been a bit off colour lately. About a dozen paintings and lots of ideas for some more appliqued items. Keeping up the recycling, too many ideas and not enough energy!

Some finished paintings.

Happy New year!

Finally got myself at my art table to get some work done. Here are some finished paintings I created on my little eco-friendly art-cards.

I shall be listed these on etsy.com over the next couple of days.
